Abstract

Context: This summary refers to the application of a traveling workshop for undergraduate Geography students, from the Bachelor's and Teaching courses at the Federal University of Pelotas - UFPel, at the IX Academic Week of Geography UFPel: Trajectories and Connections and VII Exhibition and Seminar PIBID Geography. The objective of the workshop was to elucidate the different uses of cartography, with an emphasis on the use of mind maps as a language. Methodology: Among the different languages present in the classroom, recognizing the difficulty of students and future teachers with cartography, we chose to approach mind maps. The use of this language allowed to instigate thinking and representation of different spaces, through the multiple characteristics present in the various uses of mind maps, such as senses. Considerations: As a result, this proposal brought important elements that contribute to the knowledge and appropriation of cartography in everyday life, through the use of mind maps as a cartographic tool. This approach assists in the teaching and learning process of Geography.
