Resumen

En el contexto de la rica teorización de las fronteras, la importancia nodal del espacio transfronterizo exige articular su potencial conceptual, metodológico y analítico. Centrándose en el tema de las fronteras estatales, a través de la revisión terminológica el artículo contribuye a estructurar mejor la idea de una zona única, marginal para los centros a ambos lados de la divisoria, así como a presentar lo transfronterizo en sus capacidades de nivel espacial de operación, un medio y una herramienta de análisis. Luego esboza el patrón del problema de la zona transfronteriza que puede investigarse dentro del mismo marco, siendo un problema transfronterizo que surge de las percepciones de los límites de la responsabilidad soberana y se manifiesta en los efectos negativos de los procesos en las regiones políticas internas y al otro lado de la frontera. El artículo también analiza el posible uso práctico del marco, brindando el ejemplo de su aplicabilidad en la investigación de la gobernanza ambiental transnacional.
