Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • he manuscript uses citations and references in accordance with the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th edition. Non-compliance will render the manuscript ineligible for evaluation.
  • All authors have a valid ORCID correctly informed in the system. The absence of this information will render the manuscript ineligible for evaluation.

  • The title, abstract, and keywords have been provided in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
  • Originality and novelty of the manuscript. The manuscript is original, has not been previously published, and is not under simultaneous consideration by another journal.
  • he manuscript is aligned with the focus and scope of the Estrabão Journal, as described on the About the Journal page.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
  • The abstract explicitly contains the following textual markers: Context; Methodology(ies); Results or Conclusions/Final Considerations.
  • The manuscript follows the style, structure, and bibliographic requirements described in the Author Guidelines.
  • Figures are embedded in the text, provided in high resolution (minimum 300 dpi), in JPEG, TIFF, or EPS formats. Figures do not contain internal titles, only captions, scales, and geographic orientation when applicable.
  • All tables and charts are provided in editable format. Tables have not been converted into images.
  • Each author’s contribution has been indicated according to the CRediT taxonomy (https://credit.niso.org/).
  • When applicable, the manuscript reports approval by a Research Ethics Committee, including the approval number, or formally declares non-applicability.
  • Any use of generative Artificial Intelligence tools has been explicitly declared by the author(s), including: tool used; purpose of use; level of interaction with the manuscript content. The declaration was provided in the “Comments to the Editor” field in the OJS system.
  • The authors declare their agreement with: the journal’s ethics and best practices policy; the peer review process; the open access and copyright policy.

Author Guidelines

1. Types of manuscripts

The Estrabão accepts original manuscripts in the following sections:

1.1 Articles

Intended for the publication of complete research studies with consolidated results and significant scientific contribution.
Mandatory structure:

  • Introduction

  • Methodology

  • Results and Discussion

  • Final Considerations

  • Funding Sources (when applicable)

  • Credits (CRediT)

  • References

1.2 Research Communications

Intended for shorter texts presenting partial results, ongoing projects, or bibliographic reviews with a specific scope, aimed at rapid scientific dissemination.
Mandatory structure:

  • Introduction

  • Methodology

  • Results and Discussion

  • Final Considerations

  • Credits (CRediT)

  • References

Maximum limit: 6 figures and/or tables.


2. Accepted languages

The journal accepts manuscripts written in Portuguese, English, or Spanish.

Regardless of the language of the main text, it is mandatory to provide:

  • title,

  • abstract,

  • keywords
    in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.


3. Manuscript length

  • Articles: 4,000 to 8,000 words

  • Research Communications: 1,000 to 3,500 words

Titles, abstracts, keywords, and references are not included in the word count.


4. Authorship and contributions

There is no limit to the number of authors.
All authors must:

  • have made a significant contribution to the work;

  • have a valid ORCID registered in the system;

  • have their contributions described according to the CRediT taxonomy
    (https://credit.niso.org/).

The corresponding author is responsible for the accuracy of the information provided.


5. Citation and reference standards

The journal adopts exclusively the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th edition standards
(https://apastyle.apa.org/).

The use of DOIs whenever available and reference managers such as Zotero or Mendeley is recommended.


6. Manuscript structure and formatting

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)

  • Margins: 3 cm, A4 paper

  • Font: Times New Roman, size 12

  • Line spacing: 1.5

  • International System of Units (SI)

The text must be organized into unnumbered sections, with headings in bold.


7. Abstract and keywords

The abstract must contain up to 250 words and explicitly include the following markers:

  • Context

  • Methodology(ies)

  • Results or Conclusions

Authors must provide 3 to 4 keywords.


8. Figures, tables, and supplementary data

  • Figures must have 300 dpi resolution, in JPEG, TIFF, or EPS formats

  • Tables and charts must be provided in editable format

  • Do not insert titles or authorship information within images

  • Supplementary data may be deposited in repositories such as Zenodo


9. Research ethics

When applicable, the manuscript must report:

  • approval by a Research Ethics Committee, including the approval number, or

  • a formal declaration of non-applicability.


10. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The use of generative AI tools is permitted only for technical support purposes, such as:

  • language revision,

  • translation,

  • formatting,

  • generation of illustrative figures.

Authors must explicitly declare:

  • the tool used;

  • the purpose of use;

  • the level of interaction with the manuscript.

This declaration must be included in the “Comments to the Editor” field in the OJS system.


11. Textual revision

After editorial approval, authors must provide proof of professional grammatical and textual revision.
No new authors may be added after this stage.


12. Accessibility and inclusive language

Authors are encouraged to use clear, accessible, and inclusive language suitable for diverse audiences, including people with disabilities.

Privacy Statement

The names, email addresses, and other personal information provided to the Estrabão Journal will be used exclusively for the purposes stated by this publication, including the editorial process, communication with authors, reviewers, and readers, and the management of the journal’s academic and scientific activities.

Such data will not be used for other purposes, will not be sold, and will not be shared with third parties, except when required by law or necessary to fulfill legitimate editorial and academic obligations.
