Author Guidelines

Estrabão has two sections, each with its own objectives:

The section "Articles" is intended for publications that present the results of research with significant findings, contributing significantly to science. The structure of an article in this section includes: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Final Considerations, Credits and References.

The section "Short Communication" is aimed at short articles that present original material, ongoing projects or bibliographic review with significant importance, aimed at rapid dissemination. The Research Communication article should have the following structure: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Final Considerations, Credit and References, and should have a maximum of 6 figures or tables. This section is ideal for ongoing research or that already contemplate partial results that need to be quickly disseminated to the scientific community.

Language Requirements

  1. The journal accepts original texts written in Portuguese, Spanish or English.

Text Length

  1. The submitted texts must be within the following length limits:

a) Research Communications: minimum of 1,000 and maximum of 3,500 words;

b) Articles: minimum of 4,000 and maximum of 8,000 words. Titles, abstracts, keywords, and references do not count towards the total text length.

Authorship

3 - There is no limit to the number of authors. However, the corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that the descriptions are accurate and agreed upon by all authors. Co-authors should be listed with their respective roles, following the CRediT taxonomy. It is essential that all authors have contributed significantly to the work. Ethics in authorship is a fundamental aspect for the journal.

3.1 - The CRediT taxonomy is used to represent the individual contribution of each author. The purpose is to provide transparency regarding the contributions of authors to scientific papers. Multiple terms can be assigned to a single contributor. For more information on which roles should be assigned, visit http://credit.niso.org/.

References and citations

4- A limit of 20 references for research communication and 40 references for the article is suggested. If this number is exceeded, the editorial board will make an assessment.

5 - The journal adopts the latest version of the American Psychological Association (APA) citation and referencing standards, which is version number 7.

6 - When a work is cited in the text, the author's last name and the year of publication of the source should be included. For references of three or more authors, use "et al." after the first author. The references should be left-aligned and have a 1.27cm indent in the second and subsequent lines of each reference. See the examples below:

a) Direct quote in the text:

"According to Andrade (2020), scientific research is..."

"Scientific research is... (Andrade, 2020)"

b) Reference to an article

Silva, E., Herdies, D., & Quadro, M. (2021). Analysis of computational tools used in numerical models for the representation of atmospheric, oceanic, and surface processes. Estrabão, 2, 197–199. DOI: https://doi.org/10.53455/re.v2i.32
